West Coast Swing is a versatile partner dance that can be danced to nearly any genre of music in 4/4 time. Music changes over time with each new generation. Knowing what style of dance is appropriate for a particular song may not always be obvious, but if its 4/4 time within a certain tempo range, WCS can be danced to it.
Music and dance bring people together from different cultures and generations. No politics, no religion, just dance to the music. The connection happens when two people, one a "leader" and one a "follower" join hands and move to the music. Learning to both lead and follow builds a greater understanding of the dance.
